summer love.

This past week, I have been back home in Saskatoon catching up with friends and family, and enjoying a long awaited vacation from the grind of the big city.
It's been so nice seeing familiar faces, attending outdoor concerts, and drinking wine with my best girlfriends. Summer has always been a time for enjoying the simple things, and this week home has been no exception.
Summer is a time for letting go of (some) responsibility, and allowing yourself to be as spontaneous and carefree as possible. Here are some of my absolute 'musts' for summer:

*Road trips with girlfriends. No trip is complete without a mixed CD, full of songs that everyone knows the words to.

*Dinner and cocktails al fresco. Summer cocktails like sangria, mojitos and white wine spritzers are the best part of this sunny season. And nothing beats eating dinner under the stars.

*Running outside. There is nothing better than an early morning, sun drenched run along the harborfront to make you feel rejuvenated and alive.

*Bronzed skin. I love the way all clothes look against sun-kissed skin. I always wear SPF on my face, but I have been all too guilty of sitting outside, worshipping the sun on hot days.

*Attending outdoor concerts. I recently saw the Roots play at the jazz festival and I love dancing and laughing as the sun goes down. Up next is Kings of Leon at the Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto, and i could not be more excited.

*Sundresses. So versatile for summer, and easy to dress up or down; I love being able to throw on a sundress and head out.

As you can see, there is not a lot I don't love about this sunny, carefree season. It's too bad that summer only lasts for a few months because it truly is the greatest part of the year. Having those few warm months of summer makes getting through the long, cold winter just that much easier.

bedroom bliss.

Here are a few pictures of my new bedroom:

Having just recently moved into a townhouse in downtown Toronto, I have been busy unpacking and redecorating my basement bedroom. With wall to wall shelves, perfect for storing books, makeup and jewellery, I have found it pretty easy to store most of my stuff. And believe me, I have a looooot of stuff. I'm by no means a professional interior decorator, but I love my living space to have a cozy, lived in feel. This room definitely gives me that vibe. It's got great lighting, and it's small enough that I can turn on just a side lamp and still feel as though the whole room is bright. I'm having fun organizing things, and hopefully in the next few weeks, I can get everything set up, just the way I like it.

It's cluttered, and messy, but it's home.
